Special Thoughts From Others An Angel Among Us
Why has this little one come into our lives and seemingly leave as soon as he arrives? Some may say that it seems to have been a senseless heartache. But, to us Gabriel’s coming was nothing short of miraculous. Life in and of itself is a miracle. This is not simply a cliché but, in fact, a gift from heaven. Gabriel is a gift from heaven and he shares a very rich commonality. There is another whose life to some seemed too short. Although others in His community had thought his life to be a nuisance. And even some thought it much too inconvenient to have him remain alive. Of course I am speaking of our Lord Jesus. Although he was 33 when he was crucified Christ’s ministry was in itself short lived; though the impact of His life has had immeasurable impact to those who find it sacred.
We are all made in that sacred image of God himself. Our little Gabriel is made in that image and his life has forever touched us all as well. Gabriel’s parents were given a choice early on by their doctors. -A choice or really a test of their faith. They chose life and God, in return, chose to bless them. But it didn’t stop there. We have all been blessed to be witness to our miracle baby Gabriel. He came to remind us that there is something far greater than ourselves. To appreciate the time we are given and to be reminded to make the most of our every moment that the Lord has blessed us with. His coming transformed strangers into friends, friends into family and family into unbreakable bonds. His coming was a proclamation of love and of the celebration of life.
As our Lord was crucified and died but was again risen, so shall it be for our beloved little one for heaven has indeed received their angel Gabriel and we will see him again as well … born to die? No – born to give love and gain eternal life- a true angel among us. Amen
